The Handpan is one of the most captivating and modern melodic percussion instruments in the world of music. Known for its calming, deep, and enchanting sound, the handpan has become a favorite among music lovers, sound healers, and meditation practitioners.

History of the Handpan
The handpan instrument was first introduced in the early 2000s by two Swiss instrument makers, Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer, founders of PANArt. Inspired by instruments like the Steel Drum, Ghatam, and other traditional percussion instruments, they created a new, hand-played instrument capable of producing multiple musical notes with soothing harmonic resonance.

Structure and Playing Technique
The handpan consists of two metal hemispheres joined together, with tone fields (raised areas) on the upper side that each represent a musical note. Players use their fingertips to gently strike the notes, producing rich, resonant, and meditative tones.
Because of its unique design, the handpan requires no drumsticks or mallets—just your hands and emotions are enough to create beautiful melodies.
